Setup

The DXPW60605 can be unboxed and ready to use in about 15 minutes. Barely any assembly is required, and you don’t need any extra tools to complete the process (however, it’s helpful to have a box cutter to remove the packing materials).

In the box, you’ll find the following items:

  • (1) DeWalt DXPW60605 gas pressure washer
  • (1) Monster high-pressure hose (50 ft.)
  • (1) Rear-entry spray gun
  • (1) Steel wand (31”)
  • (5) Quick-connect nozzles (0°, 15°, 25°, 40°, soap)
  • (1) Detergent siphon
  • (1) Simpson premium engine oil (10W-30)
  • (2) Hand knobs

The pressure washer comes out of the box in two pieces: the base (i.e. the lower part of the frame that holds the engine and pump) and the handle. To connect the two, the handle simply slides onto the base and secures into place with the two included hand knobs.

From there, the accessories can be put together and mounted in the dashboard at the top of the handle. Screw the wand onto the spray gun; then, place the spray gun in the holster on the right, hang the hose from the hanger on the left and push the nozzles into the rubber grommets along the top.

The last thing to do is add fuel and oil to the engine. The included oil packet will cover you on oil, but of course, you will need to supply your own gas (about a gallon and a half).

Performance

The DXPW60605 is designed for maximum performance. After all, that’s what most people want from a commercial pressure washer. With 4,200 PSI at 4.0 GPM, it can clean any material from any surface; and with a Honda GX390 engine and CAT 67DX pump, it can run every day of the week, all year long.

DeWalt DXPW60605

The DXPW60605 has a 99% recommendation rate (based on 100+ verified reviews from four sources). It’s the highest-rated commercial pressure washer at Home Depot and top five at Pressure Washers Direct.

Every product in the commercial category is built with heavier-duty components, but Honda and CAT are considered the best manufacturers in the industry when it comes to engines and pumps (respectively). On top of that, the GX390 and 67DX are some of their most desirable models.

Both include a number of features to make them easy to operate and maintain. Some examples are oil monitoring (the engine will shut down if there’s low oil), heat regulation (the pump will cool down if it’s too hot), adjustable pressure (so you can set cleaning power per project) and downstream injection (so chemicals don’t pass through the pump). Between the two, you get just about every must-have feature available on a pressure washer.

For support, the frame is welded with 12-gauge steel and a solid steel axle for its oversized pneumatic wheels. At 157 lbs, it still takes some muscle to move (especially if you plan on lifting it into a truck bed), but this is the case with any commercial unit.

The accessories snap together with quick-connect fittings, making for fast setup and breakdown on jobs. As expected, all are professional-grade, though the spray gun is unique because it includes a vertical foregrip for a more comfortable hold.

Problems

The DXPW60605 doesn’t have any problems that we consider dealbreakers, but there is one thing that could be a dealbreaker depending on your circumstances:

  • The pump is direct-drive. Direct-drive configurations are the most common, but they can’t use standing water sources (like a tank) because they turn too fast, so you’ll need a belt-drive pump if you plan to use anything other than a hose. Fortunately, DeWalt has a nearly identical model with a belt-drive configuration, DXPW60606.
